Screen review: Edit Profiles tab

The "Edit Profiles" tab is used to create, edit and save profiles for individual folder pairs. This one is for my "Favorites"...

The scrolling profile window shows a collapsible tree of previously created profiles. It actually took me less than one evening to build these (not all are visible in the window).

The profile name and left-right paths area (upper right) is almost self-explanatory. You can browse for the filepaths, or type to select or modify them. Network paths are easily found in My Network Places (aka Network Neighborhood) when folder file sharing is turned on at the remote machine.

Note the "Save As" button which allows cloning of an already-completed complex profile, so that you can quickly build sets or groups of profiles for similar tasks.

Copy direction can be left to right, right to left, or both. You can also define left-to-right Exact Mirror synch profiles; you want to be careful to do a good job of housekeeping before running this for the first time, as folder and files on the right that do not exist on the left may be deleted (depending on your option settings).

Unless running in the "unattended" mode, you always get a preview of exactly what SuperFlexible is going to do when you run a profile. And, you can perform many realtime menu options right from within the preview mode.

If not all subfolders should be included in the folder compare and copy, "Select Folders and Files" opens up a tree map where you can check off only the items to be compared.

You can use standard filename masking to include just some extensions (*.jpg) and/or exclude others (*.db;*.dat). The include and exclude features are extremely useful.

There are several methods available for handing the situation where the file has not changed, but it has just been moved to another subfolder. You can see in the lower right of this screen shot that there are six more "subtabs" with special rules for filtering, compares, scheduling and more. We will not have room to discuss all these, but you can see that for those cases where you need it, these options are available for customizing a profile.

Since all these options are set at the individual profile level (not as global defaults), the control is available when needed. So far, I have found in actual practice that having all this flexibility does not seem to complicate the creation of new profiles. I simply do not use option tabs that I do not need for a task.
