Three times in my life I have come here.
Three times I have found here peace, quiet, solitude,
     and the beauty of God's creation.

The beauty lies before me now as I write,
     just beyond the tent door.

And as I write, the shadow of the western ridge
     moves across the lake,
          bringing the thin clear coolness
               of evening in the High Sierra...
