Photo Gallery

About This Page:
We created this page to share photos of interest, generally from some of the thousands I've scanned. Due to web space limitations, we can't predict how long photos can stay up here at any one time. As the picture above is replaced by a newer one, you can still find all currently available photos in More Photo Gallery.

Except where credited otherwise, all photos here are originals, ŠAlex Forbes.

There are actually two photos uploaded each time we update this page: (a) the "small" jpeg you see, above, and (b) a larger "medium-size" downloadable jpeg (540KB = about 95 seconds at 56.6Kbps).

If you like the image, you can download it for free by following the instructions in your browser for saving an image from a link or from a picture. First, view the larger image by clicking anywhere on the small photo image featured.

The medium-size image is generally about 600x900 pixels and makes a quite nice desktop picture for a 17" monitor. For PC Desktop Pictures*, you will need to "SAVE  AS" BMP once you have the JPG on your hard drive; for Mac, you may be able to display as-is, else SAVE AS a Macintosh PICT.

*Windows users who activate "Active Desktop" can load JPG images as Desktops, without converting to BMP first.

All we ask is that you not try to sell the image, upload it to the web, or otherwise distribute it or represent it as your own. Downloadable images are protected with a digital id watermark.

Original photos are generally 35MM slides or print negatives. Scans were done with a Nikon Coolscan III. The resulting ultra-high quality digital images were saved as TIFF images at 1200x1800 pixels, or about 6.4MB each.

We are not really geared for selling the high-quality images. If you really, really MUST have one, inquire at summitlake.com. We aren't expecting a huge demand. You would be purchasing only the right to view the original scan, not commercial rights to the photo.

We hope you enjoy the photographic experiences recorded on this page. That's what the internet medium is supposed to be all about.
