  16_Pinescape.jpg - This was taken in mid-morning, on a one-day hike to Blue Lake, out of Lake Sabrina off California Highway 109, an eastern approach into the southern Sierras. The hike was steeper than it looked on the topo map, but aren't they all? This was the first backpack trip for two friends who joined me. The day warmed up surprisingly fast. We doffed jackets and were all grateful for one of many, many breaks in the shade taken that day.
