| IMG002-Haypress | Haypress Creek, July 1979: This is one of my favorite views of Haypress Creek, whether taking a photo or just sitting on a rock along the stream. This view is upstream from the old campgrounds along the road to the public Wildplum campground. By the mid 1980's we stopped going after May or before September because of the summer vacation influxes. Haypress Creek has always been difficult to photograph well because of extreme contrasts of strong sunlight and deep shade. Both fire and flood cleared out most of the old growth tree canopy along the banks downstream in the late 1950's. Thirty years later, there was again always deep cool shade even on the hottest of days. I have not been back there since 1985 or 1986. Haypress Creek feeds the North Fork of the Yuba along California's Highway 49. | |
