| DSCN6641 Leaves | Our photographer writes: I went out that night to fix a drip irrigation line, using my "headlights", a 4-LED battery-powered gizzy used by spelunkers, backpackers, and checkers of drip lines. The LEDs sit on your forehead, just above eye level. As I looked under the avocado trees near ground level, I saw thousands of cat's eyes staring back at me. The mini-sprinklers were going, and every surface had standing water drops reflecting the light back into my eyes. I grabbed my camera to shoot the scene. I tried several methods, using flash only, the headlight only, and both. The best shot was the first one, taken with the headlight held on top of the camera, no more than two inches above the lens, (to maximize the reflections), with flash. | |
